The Hunter Development Corporation (HDC) has announced an agreement has been struck for the delivery of a key residential development, the first project in over a decade on harbourside land at Honeysuckle.
HDC A/General Manager Valentina Misevska said HDC had selected the Doma Group to undertake a residential development at Lee Wharf at 21 Honeysuckle Drive, subject to development approval.
“The redevelopment of this site, for three residential buildings over a 7,300 square metre site, will be a significant contributor to the Government’s broader urban revitalisation program in the Newcastle city centre,” Ms Misevska said.
“The Doma Group’s concept, being designed by SJB Architects, provides for a mix of 1, 2 and 3 bedroom apartments and individual townhouses with some retail activation at ground floor.
“We expect a development application for this project to be submitted in the coming months.
“Subject to development approval, it is expected that construction could commence on site in the later part of 2017.”
Ms Misevska said HDC had selected the Doma proposal ahead of eight other proposals submitted for the site following an expression on interest process.
“The Doma Group will be finalising the details of their proposal in the coming weeks ahead of submitting a development application.
“A key part of this project will be the high quality landscaping of the public promenade and Worth Place Park alongside the site,” Ms Misevska said.
The Doma Group’s residential and commercial project currently underway at
18 Honeysuckle Drive is scheduled for completion at the end 2016.
