Michael Cassel is the Chief Executive of Hunter Development Corporation and Program Director for the Revitalising Newcastle program.
Michael joined HDC as the Chief Executive in February 2017. Prior to taking on the role, Michael held numerous senior positions in public, private, not-for-profit and government sectors.
Through Michael’s leadership, HDC is continuing to deliver transformational change in Newcastle and the broader Hunter region, with new homes, commercial and retail opportunities alongside a commitment to superior urban design outcomes.

Valentina is passionate about high class design and urban outcomes in her role driving the delivery of new housing, employment opportunities, public spaces and positive environmental outcomes across a portfolio of HDC projects including the Honeysuckle renewal project.
With more than 15 years’ experience in property, Valentina has a proven track record in leading and securing positive outcomes in complex property and commercial matters.
Stephen is a professional engineer and development manager with 20 years’ experience in the urban development industry. With expertise in land development, project management, design management and feasibility studies, Stephen has extensive skills in the management and delivery of residential, commercial and industrial developments.
As Project Leader for Hunter Development Corporation, Stephen leads the urban transformation delivery of the NSW Government’s Revitalising Newcastle program, and oversees other development opportunities across the Hunter region.
Director, Strategy and Asset Management

At HDC, Anna is responsible for working across all levels of government, industry and the community to deliver the Hunter Regional Plan 2036, which will guide the NSW Government’s land use planning priorities and decisions across the Hunter over the next 20 years.
A town planner with tertiary qualifications in urban and regional planning, social geography and environmental management, Anna has worked in strategic and statutory planning, sustainability policies and practices, planning and housing policy, and land development.
Communication and Engagement Manager
As the Communications and Engagement Manager, Amber oversees the delivery of corporate and strategic communications across all HDC projects, including the Revitalising Newcastle program.
With diverse experience working across different sectors in New Zealand and Australia, Amber is highly skilled in media management, brand development, community and stakeholder engagement, strategic planning and business development.
