HCCDC is unlocking more than 1500 ha of land in West Wallsend for future transport, residential, employment and biodiversity outcomes.
The site represents a critical piece of land and creates opportunities to drive several government initiatives. We are developing a land use strategy to optimise these opportunities, that include creating jobs, housing and conservation.
We are also working with Transport for NSW to preserve land for the future Lower Hunter Freight Corridor.
The site provides opportunity to deliver NSW Government objectives including:
- significant conservation outcomes
- respect and acknowledgement of Indigenous and European heritage and culture
- housing supply
- affordable housing
- infill development
- employment land
- well-planned rural-residential housing
- protecting nationally significant infrastructure corridors.
